Why do I do these things?!

The sickness that has been plaguing me since late Tuesday still has not subsided. Every once in a while I can talk without my voice breaking and I’m like, “Oh, that’s what I used to sound like.” And I don’t know why this is, but I feel like when you get sick you repeatedly do the things that hurt the most: blow your nose, even though it’s red and sore. Clear your throat. Swallow. Cough. And it all hurts. And you just. Keep. Doing. Them. In short, being sick totally blows. In the meantime, I’ve been spending my after-work hours… I’m not done yet.

So this is how it starts.

I’m slightly ashamed to admit that I have spent about six hours on a site called Thrive Forward. It’s the brainchild of Brendan Brazier, an ultra-athlete and author from Canada (he’s like Jillian Michaels… but with a penis and less menacing), and on it he posts videos of himself walking through farmers markets, running on sandy beaches, and doing various weight training … all while talking about nutrition. I follow Jenny Hadfield (who runners know as Coach Jenny) on Twitter, and she posted a link to this site the other day. The video was about clean eating, and it was… I’m not done yet.

G’bye Cheetos.

Fridays are somewhat irrelevant to me since I work Saturdays as well, but there’s something automatically relaxing about knowing that the weekend is here. With everything that’s been going on, I figured tonight would be the perfect night to shut my brain down for a while. Last night, I started looking up vegetarian recipes. (From time to time, I consider going vegetarian. I have no real basis for it, just that sometimes eating meat weirds me out if it’s chewy or otherwise gross.) So I found a few, and then did the bravest thing I’ve done in a while: went to Whole Foods…. I’m not done yet.
