Spent the day with my mom and sister again, where we took a trip to Forever 21 (my sister’s request). As I mentioned yesterday, I don’t understand shopping, but let me take it a step further and say, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WHY IS THERE SUCH A THING THAT EXISTS LIKE FOREVER 21?! Forever 21 is as if everything in the world threw up, got reassembled and then hung on clothes racks. My sister came away with some tolerable things, and my mom and I goofed off a little. She found some green shorts with studs on the sides… I’m not done yet.

My mom and sister came from Indernana for some bonding time. They picked me up from work and we headed over to Bed Bath and Beyond. About two seconds in, my sister and I left my mom to revel in the gloriousness of the store. We got some desperately-needed coffee, and then I watched her go from store to store looking for clothes. Two things to say here: 1) I don’t understand clothes shopping. 2) My sister, at 15, has more financial sense than I do. I offered to buy her whatever she wanted and she still wanted to buy… I’m not done yet.
I’m currently taking a break from putting things away. I got a bookshelf this weekend (well, two – but one isn’t put together yet)… and it made me so happy! I’m glad my books once again have a home. …Most of them, anyway – there’s still another bin awaiting placement. And I guess technically, I had another shelf at my disposal, but I chose to use that for music-related books and/or notebooks with random scribbles in them. It’s my hope that, when I become rich and famous, I shall have an entire library. Maybe filled with bookshelves from Target. But… I’m not done yet.
I GOT SHOES. New running shoes, that is. This entire training session has left my left shin battered, and with 7 more weeks to go, I don’t want (and really can’t afford) anything to get worse. So I made my way over to my running store, with my current running shoes on my feet (and no, I didn’t run there – are you kidding?). The salesperson didn’t really think there was much wrong about my current shoes, but I assured him that there was. “I’m over halfway through training… I think it’s time to get new shoes.” Instead, he mentioned… I’m not done yet.
Today, I went in search of a GPS watch. In my brain, a GPS watch to run with would make my life much (much) simpler. As it stands, I wear my Timex interval watch. I sometimes wear my Polar FT4 heart rate monitor. I always bring my phone and use the RunKeeper app. And just in case things weren’t complicated enough, I’ll bring the trusty iPod Nano every now and then. Needless to say, I am a gadgety mess. And the longer distance I run, the more I despise 1) holding my phone (it doesn’t fit in my fuel belt)… I’m not done yet.
