Ping Pong.

It’s official: I am a ping pong ball in this game called “health.” Went to the orthopedist’s office today, hoping not to hear the word “surgery,” but since my mind tends to loom large that’s all I could think about. Not wanting surgery, but thinking surgery may happen. My appointment started about 40 minutes late, and after repeating my whole saga, the orthopedist said, “Well… I don’t think you have compartment syndrome. I think it’s more of a vascular issue.” My face, it seemed, remained frozen – half happy, half sad. Tragi-comedy at its finest. We talked about running, and… I’m not done yet.

The 5K That Wasn’t.

I was supposed to run a 5K tonight – my first since the marathon – but work got a little too crazy, and I didn’t have enough time to go home and change. Ah, well. At least the shirt was cool. In essence, then, I paid $32 for a shirt. Next week is another 5K – Hot Chocolate – and it’s on a Sunday so I’ll have no excuse. They give hoodies as goodie bags. And let’s face it – a hoodie beats a shirt any day, am I right? Have a good night, everyone.

The Gamble.

Sad news, friends. I have officially watched all of Parks and Recreation on Netflix. I guess it’s back to the drawing board of online television! Related: I could also go out, and… you know, “do things.” But it seems like a gamble. A year ago, it was suggested that I find and join a Meetup group. So I joined Meetup, but haven’t done anything with it because that would be frightening. And yet I trained for a marathon and ran it, even though that was terrifying. And yesterday I got on the bus and found that I was 7 cents… I’m not done yet.

Chillin’ Out, Maxin’, Relaxin’ All Cool

Spending the eve at home trying to elevate my pain-in-the-ass legs so that the swelling goes down. Will be doing the same tomorrow, along with icing and compression. Hm. Not sure what I did, or what I didn’t do, but I intend to fix it. (see also: marathon) Watched “Bridesmaids” for the first time tonight. What a great movie. I am so lucky that for the weddings I have been a part of, I was not (as much of) a trainwreck. Have a good night, everyone.

Swollen McGee.

I realized today that I have no concept of what day it actually is, but I do know that today is the first day I’ve come home at a reasonable hour and stayed home. Last night, I got home at 10:30 and immediately went to sleep. I felt fine today, except still a bit stiff. There’s an area near my achilles tendon on my right leg that, no matter how much I try to stretch it, still gives me a bit of trouble. I showed my co-workers today, and they immediately told me it was swollen. And when I looked… I’m not done yet.
