Oh Saturday, My Saturday.

Today was an unusual Saturday in that I said, “Sayonara, bitches!” to work at a time when I generally do not. By 11:15a, with my OCD tendencies satisfied, I was out the door and heading down to Soldier Field to get my packet for tomorrow’s race. Before I even walked into the expo (a tent), however, I heard the jams of Michael Jackson blaring through. And while I enjoy some MJ from time to time, I knew this wasn’t going to be an expo I stayed and wandered around. I walked up and down four lanes to get to the… I’m not done yet.

And At The End Of The Day…

There’s still wine and chocolate. Thank God. Will work half a day tomorrow, pick up my stuff for the Hot Chocolate 5k (I think I’ll actually make it to this one!), and then… KICKBOXING! I really am excited. I can’t promise that I’ll be any good at it, considering it’s been missing from my life for a whole three weeks, but… let’s just say it’ll feel good to punch things. Love, peace and happiness to all, everywhere in the land!

The 5K That Wasn’t.

I was supposed to run a 5K tonight – my first since the marathon – but work got a little too crazy, and I didn’t have enough time to go home and change. Ah, well. At least the shirt was cool. In essence, then, I paid $32 for a shirt. Next week is another 5K – Hot Chocolate – and it’s on a Sunday so I’ll have no excuse. They give hoodies as goodie bags. And let’s face it – a hoodie beats a shirt any day, am I right? Have a good night, everyone.

The Mental Weight of Weight.

I’m feeling particularly angsty at the moment, and I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s the weather change that’s happened pretty much overnight (nothing new for Chicagoans, however). I find myself really wanting to chill in front of a fire (a bonfire, specifically) and drink hot chocolate and eat smores. I find myself really wanting to sit by the ocean for a while. For someone who doesn’t consider herself one with nature, I think about it an awful lot. And then I remember that foods like smores and drinks like hot chocolate don’t help me to lose weight. And then I… I’m not done yet.
