“I got more rhymes than the Bible’s got psalms.” – House of Pain, Jump Around
I woke up this morning, thinking that the sun was ridiculously bright. It was early enough for me to feel like I hadn’t slept through an entire day but late enough to get a move on. I’m one of those people that needs a few minutes to soak everything in before I get out of bed – what did I dream about? What do I need to do today? What did I do yesterday?
Yesterday started out well enough. I met my writing deadline. I met a friend for lunch. And, feeling a desperate change for something new, I dyed my hair close to black. This is where my fun ends.
I went to work.
At work, I find out that the place I’m supposed to be moving into is, in fact, a no-go. Realistically, I have about 2 months before this becomes a major problem, but technically I have about 3 weeks before I have to decide whether I’m renewing my lease in my current place or G(ting)TFO.
At the end of work, I also discover that my iPod is gone. I thought I put it in my purse, but… nope. Gone. For all I know it may be hiding in a corner somewhere in the office, or on the floor, or a car may have run over it, or somebody may be listening to the sweet, sweet tune of “Jump Around” by House of Pain… WHO KNOWS?
Sigh. I start today afresh. New hair, iPod-less (maybe my hair represents my soul… without music!) , and full of possibilities (somebody pray I find the thing, please).
